We asked each of our table officers the same questions and today we’re going to get to know NSUPE’s President, Shelby Kennedy.
This week we will be featuring NSUPE’s four table officers who were elected for a two-year term at the biennial Convention in November 2019. They work alongside Executive Council members, Council Committee members, staff, and NSUPE’s lawyers to direct and govern NSUPE’s affairs. Continue reading “Get to know your NSUPE Table Officers.”
NSUPE’s Executive Council is a group of NSUPE members who have stepped up and gotten themselves elected to represent their Local. Each of NSUPE’s nine Locals is tasked with electing an Executive Council Member and an Alternate Executive Council Member.
If you’re in Nova Scotia, you likely call February 17 Heritage Day. People in Prince Edward Island know it as Islander Day, and in other parts of Canada, the third Monday in February is primarily known as Family Day. Whatever you call it, it’s a nice break in the often cold and sometimes depressing month of February.
At the January 2020 Executive Council meeting, NSUPE’s Executive Council decided that 2020 will be the year where we concentrate on strengthening and growing NSUPE’s membership. Executive Council has committed to improving membership engagement, education, and transparency.
We’re also looking to add to the NSUPE family. As an agile, Canadian union, we believe that we have a lot to offer those who do not yet have the protections that a Union provides.
You can help us achieve our goals. Here’s how you can help:
- Let us know what you need as a current NSUPE member
- Let us know what you want to see more of
- Point us in the right direction of those who need us. If you have a friend, family member, or know someone else who would benefit from having a union, let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org. Don’t worry; it’s completely confidential.
We are listening. Get in touch with us by contacting Sherry at email@example.com to tell us what you need and what things you want to see. If you would like to remain anonymous, fill-out our suggestion box where contact information is optional.
