Biennial Convention

The NSUPE Biannual Convention serves as the primary governing assembly for members across all locals. This event facilitates union education, democratic governance, and organizational transparency.

Members attend as official delegates representing their specific locals. This structure ensures that every workplace, regardless of size, has a voice in the decision making process, and the strategic direction of the union. It provides a centralized forum for networking, development, and the exercise of voting rights to maintain accountability within the leadership structure.

Core Components

  • Labour School: Targeted educational sessions designed to strengthen member knowledge of labor rights, collective bargaining, and workplace advocacy.
  • Constitutional Review: A formal process where delegates examine and debate amendments to the NSUPE Constitution to ensure the union’s foundational rules remain current.
  • Organizational Reporting: An overview of NSUPE activities, financial health, and initiatives undertaken during the preceding two-year cycle.
  • Elections: The democratic election of NSUPE Executive Table Officers. Delegates cast votes to determine the leadership that will oversee union operations for the upcoming term.
