The Nova Scotia Union of Public & Private Employees (NSUPE) is a small union that consists of nine Locals representing approximately 1,800 workers in the public and private sectors.
NSUPE was founded on the belief that all workers deserved safe working conditions, job security, and fair wages. Since its inception in 1974, NSUPE has had a storied history of representing smaller groups of employees looking to improve their working environments. Currently, NSUPE represents unionized workers in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Local 12 – Blood collection and support workers of Canadian Blood Services, Nova Scotia
Local 13 -Professional, technical, and administrative workers of Halifax Regional Municipality
Local 14 – Librarians, library assistants, administrative, technical and maintenance staff at Halifax Public Libraries
Local 15 – Life skills coaches at Homes for Independent Living (NS)
Local 16 – Residential and vocational instructors of Conway Workshop Association
Local 17 – Room attendants and guest services representatives at the Quality Inn Halifax Airport Hotel
Local 19 – Blood collection and support workers of Canadian Blood Services, Prince Edward Island
Local 22 – Operations, security, and housekeeping workers of Cole Harbour Place
